This template is an infobox for writing systems, scripts, and orthographies. It uses a custom HTML table structure with a pale blue-grey header (#d4e3eb) intended for linguistic and historical articles.
Usage
[edit source]To use this template in an article, copy the following blank code and fill in the appropriate fields. Do not alter the parameter names.

Parameters
[edit source]- name: The common English name of the writing system (e.g., Latin script, Cyrillic script).
- native_name: The name of the script in its native language (optional).
- image: An image demonstrating the writing system. Do not use the
File:prefix. - image_caption: A brief, descriptive caption for the image.
- type: The classification of the script (e.g., Alphabet, Abjad, Abugida, Syllabary, Logogram).
- languages: Major languages that use or used this writing system.
- time_period: The era or years during which the system was actively used (e.g., c. 1200 BC – present).
- direction: The direction of writing (e.g., Left-to-right, Right-to-left, Top-to-bottom).
- creator: The credited inventor or the cultural origin of the script.
- parent_systems: Ancestor scripts that led to the development of this one. Use unordered lists if necessary.
- child_systems: Scripts that were derived from this writing system.
